crown king13/12/2006 12:29:20
at a posh dinner a while back, i was sat at a table of ten vips, which is bizarre in itself, but when the waiter brought in the main course - crown of lamb - he tripped and the beautifully presented meat flew off the silver platter landing flush on my head with the gravy running down my face. not exactly a meal fit for a king, served this way!

greetings from beyond05/01/2007 09:16:38
ever heard of the island of bornholm in the baltic sea? nah, not to many people have, but the legend claims that when god had created the world, he had a few leftovers of all the best pieces on this planet - and he used that to make bornholm. my interest in this island dates back to my childhood years. my mother was a typical 50`s starlet, and she had parts in various danish and american movies, one of the danish movies taking place on bornholm. not that she ever went there, as the film-studios were situated just outside copenhagen. none the less i`ve taken a fancy to this wonderful little 15 x 20 miles spot in the baltic sea, and i`ve spend my last 15 or 20 summer vacations there. luckily my dear wife, marlene, shares my interest in bornholm to the point, where she actually wanted to have a summer-cottage on bornholm. even though real-estate comes cheap on bornholm, i found this slightly excessive. however, my mother passed away about a year ago - not leaving any big fortune behind. her career went to a standstill after she rejected a hollywood-offer in the 50`s, after which she worked as a civil servant in the danish hospital-sector for three decades. one thing she did have was a painting by a bornholmian artist (probably the only one with any claim to fame), and lately prices for his works have gone up quite a bit. i never liked the painting much, so i auctioned it and got a pretty penny out of the deal. my wife and i used the money for a down-payment for an old farmhouse on bornholm. on the very same day, we bought the farm, we went to see an old antique dealer in the small bornholmian village of nyker. we`ve been there many times before, but when we went into his shop this time, there was a pile of old illustrated magazines from the 50`s on his front desk. these magazines often had fullpage photos of famous people on the backcover, and the magazine on top of the pile was turned over - with a portrait of my mother on it. i don`t believe in spiritualism or similar mumbo-jumbo, but i found this experience to be rather spine-chilling - and very much like an accept from beyond that it was a great idea to buy the bornholmian farm. but it is quite bizarre, don`t you think?
