How to book a minute
Booking your minute in time could not be easier, just follow the steps on each page. Here is the sequence of events:
1. Select your time zone from the drop down menu, pick the time and date that you would like to register from the day, month, year, hour and minute boxes
Click the ‘check minute’ box.
2.You will be advised if your minute is available as a shared (free of charge), or exclusive minute
If it is available click ‘Book your minute’ box
3. Register
4. On set up page type in the words you would like to appear on your page. You can also choose to feature your page on the homepage on a selected day in the future should you wish, please note this cannot appear on the current day as your 24 hours begins at 00.01hours in your appropriate time zone. Check the Terms and conditions box and click Confirm.
5. You will now be able to review your details and, if you have opted to pay for an exclusive minute, you can print a receipt. Click Book Your Minute box.
6. If required, enter your credit card details on Protx secure server page, wait for authorisation and complete the transaction.
Upload Photos or Video
7. Go to My Account on the homepage and click Edit. The screen page will then allow you to make any changes that you may want to make to your words and enable you to upload up to 4 photos, the picture files must be less than 1MB each. It is therefore important that you check the file size before attempting to upload. See below How to check file size. You can also include your Flickr gallery or YouTube videos by clicking on the relevant icons.
8. Click Browse and choose ‘My Pictures’. Select one, two, three, or four photos you want to include on your page. The photo you place in box 1 will be the one that appears on the homepage if you have chosen to feature your minute. Click Update, please be patient, uploading will take a minute or so.
9. Video upload is achieved via YouTube. Go to www.youtube.com and upload your personal video from your camcorder or mobile phone. Choose to make this public. Highlight and copy the url of your video, or any other where sharing is allowed. You can now exit YouTube and go back to http://www.myminuteintime.com/MyAccount/ After logging in, choose Edit for your required minute. On the edit page, paste the url you copied from You Tube into the url box and a short description in the description box. Check that you have entered the appropriate category - Just Married, Happy Birthday etc - and click Update.
IMPORTANT NOTE - Picture file sizes must be less than 1MB, otherwise they will not load. Videos can be up to 100MB.
To check photo file size
1. Minimize your web page (by clicking – at top right of screen) and go to ‘My Pictures’ on your computer, open the picture you wish to upload
2. Click on ‘File’ and then ‘Properties’. You can see picture dimensions in pixels and file size in MB. If more than 1MB, compress using steps below, if less than 1MB no further action is required and you can just click on myminuteintime at bottom of screen and resume your page set up
To reduce file size
(the methodology may vary slightly according to which picture manager you use i.e. Microsoft Office, Photo Shop etc. Please go to ‘Contact Us’ and email if you still have problems)
1. First make a copy of your picture by clicking on ‘File’ and then ‘Save As’
Give picture a different file name eg MMIT picture 1 and click ‘Save’
2. Open saved picture and click on Edit Pictures on tool bar. Choose either compress picture or resize options. If you choose compress, you can then select web option (this reduces file size to about 35KB, but quality may be impaired when uploaded on the web site, in which case you may prefer to select resize option instead)
Click ‘OK’ then exit and save, you can now upload this new picture when you click ‘Browse’ on your MMIT Set Up page
If you choose resize picture, you can reduce the size by percentage until your picture is under 1MB
